Copyrights and Trademarks
Just a quick note to remind you to respect other people's copyrights and trademarks, just as you want others to respect our copyrights and trademarks.
That means that you are not permitted to play music in class, during breaks, or at any other time you are conducting a meeting unless you have obtained the right to do so from the copyright holder.
It also means that you are violating somebody's rights to benefit from their "intellectual property" if you reprint a cartoon or comic strip, if you place artwork in a newsletter or on your web site, or republish a story without the authorization of the copyright owner.
A lot of people seem to think that they are free to take anything they see on the internet and use it for their own benefit. NOT TRUE!
You can see many examples where people have downloaded our videos - that we paid to produce - zoomed in so that our url (web site address) is cropped out of the picture, and then republish it with their own contact information.
Many of those people, if they had asked, we would have given them permission to use the material.
The same applies to sales copy, testimonials, and anything else you see on the internet: If you don't have permission to use it, then don't use it.
Do unto others only what you want others to do unto you. If you don't want it done unto you, then don't do it unto others.
Silva Trademarks
You are not allowed to register Silva trademarks or copyrights in your own name. That is a violation of your contract. If you feel that you need to register our trademark in your country in order to protect it, contact us and we will register it, or if appropriate we will give you written permission to register it in our behalf.
A registered trademark usually requires that you display the R-in-a-circle ® mark. If the trademark is not registered, use the TM superscript
