Teaching Tips
Why learn to function at the alpha level?
There is more information at alpha.
Alpha connects the objective (physical) dimension to the subjective (mental) dimension.
Alpha connects the left and right brain hemispheres so that objective information stored on the left brain hemisphere and subjective information stored on the right brain hemisphere can be synchronized and exchanged.
Elements of the conditioning cycle:
*Comfortable sitting position: Encourage students sit in a chair. Let them sit any way that is comfortable for them; let their body do what it wants to do to be comfortable.
You can suggest positions that people have found to be most comfortable, but leave it up to them what position they will assume. Advise them to roll their head around from time to time so that their neck does not get stiff. If someone must lie down in order to relax, let them. (A health problem might make it uncomfortable or painful to sit up.)
*Eyes closed: Eyesight requires beta brainwave frequencies. While they are learning, remind them: "Any time you feel you must open your eyes, do so and make yourself comfortable." If they aren't relaxed they won't be at alpha.
*Countdowns help us relax.
1-2-3 go! That activate us.
Counting backwards relaxes us. Jose Silva suggests that we visualize numbers as a green neon sign. Some of us now use green LEDs. You can show them a picture to help them get started.
*Deepening exercises include the countdowns, relaxing the eyelids, the Ideal Place of Relaxation, as well as physical and mental relaxation.
*Ideal Place of Relaxation: There is no time and space at this level of mind. You can project yourself mentally anywhere you desire, and your mind will be there. This is what they call "remote viewing." We call it "mental projection."
At the Ideal Place of Relaxation, they will get as much benefit physically and mentally as if they had actually been there for one hour.
The Ideal Place of Relaxation should be a place where you have been before and have physically relaxed while there.
When you recall it to mind, your body will attempt to recreate the conditions that existed in your body (the relaxation) when you were actually there before. That's called a "conditioned response."
*Rapport statements: "You will continue to listen to my voice..." in case your mind drifts; you are a beginner at this, so we have statements like this to help you.
"Whenever you hear me mention the word relax..." any unnecessary movements and activities will cease; all essential functions will continue to work; you will continue to breathe, etc., the same as when you are asleep.
We will count upwards to activate you and bring you out of level. "I may bring you out...by touching your left shoulder..." you can demonstrate what you are teaching them by walking over and touching someone's shoulder.
Note: Be sure to watch everyone during the conditioning cycles, to make sure they are comfortable, and to make sure they are following your instructions.
*Beneficial statements: These deal with positive thinking, and with our responsibility on this planet.
We were sent here to improve conditions on planet earth, and the better job we do, the better off we will all be, including (especially) the one who is correcting problems and improving conditions. That's why we say that your increasing mental faculties are for serving humanity better.
Points to remember:
*Remember to watch your class during conditioning cycles. If anyone seems to be uncomfortable, check on them. Have everyone project to their ideal place of relaxation while you go check on that person, or bring everyone out and go see what the problem is.
*Watch to see that they follow your instructions, such as when you tell them to take a deep breath. Also watch to make sure that they are relaxing, especially when you go through the Silva Centering Exercise.
*When you ask them to use their hands, you can watch and see how quickly the respond and follow your instructions, and this can help guide you as to how quickly you can proceed.
*Sometimes someone will feel a strange physical sensation during conditioning cycles. This is normal. Perhaps the muscles on one side of the chest are relaxing faster than those on the other side, and their breathing feels funny.
Maybe the muscles on one side of the head relax faster than on the other, and they feel a slight dizziness because of the unequal pressure on the inner ear canals.
Imagine how people in centuries past might have felt like they were floating; since they did not know about the inner ear's role in maintaining balance and equilibrium, and they had to come up with some kind of explanation, maybe they decided they were having an "out of body experience."
You can let your students know that these sensations, if they have them, are normal.
Remind them to practice
They need to practice the Silva Centering Exercise on their own in order to establish their level.
We recommend that they practice it at least once a week for at least the first three months.
Many graduates continue to practice the Silva Centering Exercise once a week, to make sure that they maintain their level.
It is a good idea to emphasize this again at the end of the seminar, when you suggest a practice routine to them that includes the Silva Centering Exercise, case working, etc.
By practicing, they learn to relax passively at very low brain frequencies.
If they never practice and only lower their brain frequency to 10 cps, then when they activate their mind to work cases, the brain has a tendency to speed up and it is difficult to remain at 10 cps.
But if they have practiced deepening, they might go to 5 cps when they go to level; then their brain can double in speed and still be at 10 cps, the ideal level for case working, remote viewing, psychometry, programming, etc.
In addition, going to deep levels of mind will help to ventilate impediments, old programs that might be impeding our success today.
Juan Silva used to remind us that it is important to let go, not hold anything back, and achieve those deep levels.
