Even as you read these words, humanity is already beginning to take the first steps into the second phase of human evolution on our planet.
The first phase was physical development.
The second phase is spiritual development.
Where are we headed?
The signs of this new phase of our growth as human beings are unmistakable to observers and practitioners in the field of brain/mind research.
Only a relative handful of the more than 5 billion people on the planet have joined the movement so far, but they are already having a major impact.
And not a moment too soon.
We have reached the point where our physical skills and our mighty brains are no longer up to the tasks that face humanity.
We need something more.
Where are we headed?
When you contemplate and meditate on where humanity stands today on this planet, you will readily see that the human race is going in a demoralizing, degenerative, destructive direction. If not corrected, this can only end in disaster.
Indicators indicate that:
- Crime is getting worse all the time, everywhere.
- Drug trafficking is causing great human suffering, and increased violence and killing.
- Water and air pollution are ruining our planet, our home.
- Many individuals are discouraged and no longer even try to lead productive, creative lives.
- Teenage pregnancies, especially to those who are not ready to be parents, is creating a whole underclass that is not functioning creatively and productively.
- Global unrest continues to increase.
- Many nations are going bankrupt.
- Wars are being fought over who gets a piece of land, how a person should worship, and for selfish economic reasons.
This stressful situation is bound to shorten the life span of the human race, as well as individual humans.
Well, that's the "problem" image. Now that we've identified the problem, the next questions is:
"Why do we have all of these problems?"
Studying and contemplating this situation at a deep meditative level, we are led back to one answer: Human intelligence.
Caretakers
Human beings are the caretakers of the planet. This is our assignment. If we fail to do our job, we will destroy ourselves.
It appears that we have reached a saturation point in our intellectual growth.
The dictionary defines a genius as "A person who has extraordinary intelligence surpassing that of most intellectually superior individuals."
Even the "intellectually superior individuals" seem to be unable to find solutions and to correct the problems that plague us today.
If our intellectual capabilities are saturated, then what are we to do?
Is there any solution?
Is there some way that we can surpass the intellectual saturation of the intellectually superior individuals so that we can come up with creative new ways to deal with our problems?
To do this, we cannot depend on just a few individuals.
Everybody would have to develop additional mental faculties.
How can people acquire additional mental faculties?
The answer to that lies in the way the human brain and mind function.
Unused potential discovered
We have spent the last 50 years studying the human brain and mind. Our investigations have revealed that 90 percent of people use only the left brain hemisphere to think with. They do both their thinking and acting with only the left brain hemisphere.
This limits these people to using only logical, intellectual, objective means to correct problems.
Only 10 percent of humanity think with the right brain hemisphere, and then act with the left brain hemisphere.
Is there an advantage in using the right brain hemisphere to think with? It certainly appears so. Those who do:
- Are healthier.
- Make fewer mistakes.
- Have fewer accidents.
- Are luckier.
- Are more successful in life.
- Are happier.
In other words, the 10 percent are classified as geniuses. They have "extraordinary intelligence surpassing that of most intellectually superior individuals."
Think of that for a moment:
Not only do they have more intellectual ability than the average person, they have more intellectual ability than even the intellectually superior people.
They have found a whole new dimension that they can use for problem solving, a dimension that has not been saturated but that has tremendous potential as a means of helping humanity to correct the problems that we are facing on our planet today.
Expanding your intellectual capacity
Once we had identified the problem and had determined what was causing it, then the next question was: What could be done to help the 90 percent of people to become superior geniuses?
We had to find a way to help the 90 percent learn to think with the right brain hemisphere and act with the left, the way the geniuses do.
It appears that the functions of the two brain hemispheres are specialized - they have different tasks to perform. Common sense tells us that there must be a reason for this, and the reason must be to allow one hemisphere to specialize in thinking and the other to be used in taking action.
Since most people are doing their thinking with the hemisphere that was not designed for thinking, but was designed for putting our thoughts into action - the left brain hemisphere - they have saturated the left brain hemisphere and have been stymied.
Biologically, people use both brain hemispheres: The left brain hemisphere controls sensory and motor nerves on the right side of the body while the right hemisphere controls the left side of the body.
But when it comes to intellectual abilities, people are using only half a brain, and they are using the least suitable half. No wonder they have become saturated, and everything is now going in the wrong direction.
How to get along better
Those who think and act with only the left brain hemisphere get sick more often with psychosomatic health problems. They are more accident prone. They make more mistakes. They are less successful in life.
When people think with the right brain hemisphere and act with the left, the results are just the opposite: They are healthier, less accident prone, make fewer mistakes, and are more successful in life.
When the 90 percent think with the left hemisphere, and act with it also, their brain frequency is centered at 20 cycles per second (c.p.s.), called the "beta" frequency.
But for the 10 percent who think with the right brain hemisphere, their brain frequency is centered at 10 c.p.s., called "alpha." Then when they act, their brain frequency is centered at 20 c.p.s. beta.
It appears that for people to be healthier, happier, and more successful in life, and to make correct decisions more often than not, they need to learn how to think with the right hemisphere, at alpha, and then to act with the left hemisphere, at beta.
When people do this, they will make the correct decisions to help solve problems. They will come up with creative ideas so that they will gain while helping other people to also gain, rather than gain at other people's loss, as so many are doing now.
When people are centered at 10 cycles alpha, they can find ways to get everything that they need without taking anything away from anyone else, without hurting anybody. Nobody loses; everybody gains. But that does not happen with left brain thinking, only with right brain thinking.
It has been said that we prey on each other at beta, while we pray for each other at alpha.
